1. History of Garba

While the nine forms of Mother Shakti are worshiped on Navratri across the country, in Gujarat the festival is associated with a colorful dance – Garba. What is this garba?

In fact, Garba is a popular folk dance from the state of Gujarat, in which women dance around a pot and sing the praises of Mata Ambe. This vessel is called garbo, inside which is kept a betel nut and a silver coin, called Kumbha. A coconut is placed on top of it.

This Matki is installed on the first day of Navratri. The festival begins by lighting a lamp inside it. This lamp is called Deepgarbha. Garba is a symbol of womb. 3. Dandiya of Ahmedabad

Preparations for the start of the Navratri festival at the GMDC ground in Ahmedabad are being made in full swing. The celebration is started by lighting the lamp by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani on a big platform. After that artists from across the state perform folk dances.

In these pandals, local artists sing garba songs on the highest stage and people dance garba in the ground below to the tune of music played by a live orchestra. Gujarati women wait for this festival throughout the year. He wears a new outfit every day and goes to the Garba ground. It is a festival of youth. In big cities like Ahmedabad, people now join Garba dance classes months in advance and practice.

4. United Way Garba of Vadodara

If the most spectacular Garba is held anywhere in Gujarat, it is Vadodara. The United Way of Vadodara city is an example of discipline and celebration of community. Around 45 thousand people come to perform garba at this garba ground. The fragrance of this Garba has spread to seven seas.

This garba has also received many awards. United Way is a non-profit organization that works on health education and sustainability. This institution organizes a huge garba every year. The capital received from the ticket is used for the education and health of the children. United Way has also been ranked by Forbes magazine for these works.

5. Idols of Maa Durga

This time we will start our journey from a place where Maa Durga idols are coming. I am talking about Kumartuli. That part of the old city where potters from all over Bengal have lived. Throughout the year, sculptors can be seen pouring life out of the clay into the idol, but a few months before Durga Puja, the place comes alive.

Some small and some big idols are being made in the streets here. The entire street is decorated with shops selling mother’s ornaments. From here all the people take beautiful idols of Durga Ma for their respective pandals. You can spend a whole day in this area. In this area of potters, people prepare beautiful idols of Durga day and night.
